Young Titans Summer Academy in Germany

Marie-Louise Schäfer and Fabiola Gerpott of the German Summer Academy "Young Titans" visited Harvard while in town for the Harvard student-fun German American Conference from April 6-9, 2017.  They met with Margot Gill, Administrative Dean for International Affairs of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and Elaine Papoulias, Executive Director of the Center for European Studies, at Wadsworth House to discuss the possible participation of Harvard faculty and alumni as mentors or guest speakers for the program, to also seek guidance on how to recruit recent Harvard graduates to apply to to the …

The President of Mauritius, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, spent a full day at Harvard meeting with students and faculty, and giving a public address in the John F. Kennedy, Jr. Forum. Her visit included a courtesy call at Wadsworth House with the Marshal and a tour of Harvard Yard. She was joined by her daughter, Imaan Fakim, and the Ambassador of Mauritius to the United States.

Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the Organization of American States

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, visited Harvard at the invitation of the Hutchins Center for African and African American Research. The Hutchins Center and the OAS have committed to work together to commemorate the International Decade of People of African Descent, and Secretary General's visit included a ceremonial signing of an agreement to formalize that collaboration.

The former President of Tanzania, Jakaya Kikwete, visited Harvard at the invitation of the Center for African Studies to deliver a keynote address at the inaugural Conference on the Role of the Diaspora in the Revitalization of African Higher Education. Professor Emmanuel Akyeampong brought President Kikwete and his delegation to Wadsworth House for a courtesy visit with the Marshal before the conference began.

Princess Sumaya Bint Hassan of Jordan

The University Marshal welcomed Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya Bint Hassan of Jordan at the Marshal's Office during her visit to the Center for Green Buildings and Cities at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Professor Ali Malkawi accompanied her, along with three aides. Her visit also included stops at Widener Library and the Harvard Art Museums.
