A group of 20 medical professionals from South Korea came to Harvard to participate in a program hosted by the Multi-Regional Clinical Trials Center of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard. A group of university administrators from various countries in Asia visited Wadsworth House during their three-week professional development program hosted by the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Participants hailed from China, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Following a welcome and overview of Harvard with the University Marshal, they went on a tour of Harvard Yard with a student tour guide. Armando Varricchio, Ambassador of Italy to the United States, visited Harvard while in Boston for the arrival of the Italian naval vessel, the Amerigo Vespucci. Ambassador Varricchio, joined by Consul General Nicola De Santis and Scientific Attache Ugo Della Croce, visited Wadsworth House to the meet the Marshal. Read more about Ambassador of Italy to the US
The Consul General of Japan in Boston, Rokuichiro Michii, had a courtesy visit at Wadsworth House with University Marshal Jackie O'Neill and Professor Shin Fujihira, Executive Director of the Program on US-Japan Relations at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. Consul General Michii was joined by two colleagues from the Consulate, Yoshie Katahara and Katherine Reilly.
Nak-in Sung, President of Seoul National University in South Korea, met with University Marshal Jackie O'Neill and Vice Provost Judy Singer on a recent visit to Harvard. He was joined by two colleagues, Min Gyo Koo, Vice Dean, Office of International Affairs, and Hyowon Lee, Executive Director, Seoul National University Foundation.
Professor Fernando Reimers, Ford Foundation Professor of Practice of International Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, brought several of his soon-to-be-graduating students of international education to Wadsworth House to meet the University Marshal, and to learn about Harvard history and Commencement. The students also visited Houghton Library and the Harvard Art Museum.
A delegation from the University of Sydney, Australia, spent three days at Harvard exploring possible areas of expanded collaboration between the two universities. The Marshal's Office hosted a welcome for the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Kathy Belov, and several of her colleagues. Their visit also included a tour of Harvard Yard, a visit to the Harvard Art Museum, and meetings with various faculty.
The King of Sweden led a 40-person Royal Trade Mission to the Boston area, the final leg of a week-long visit to the US to learn about innovation, technology, and the latest scientific advances at American universities. Following a short welcome with the University Marshal, the delegation heard presentations on engineering, innovation and technology development. Dr. Allen Counter, Honorary Consul for Sweden in Boston, acted as the royal delegation's host at Harvard.
Anatoly Alexandrov, Rector of the Bauman Moscow State University of Technology, visited Harvard with a small delegation while in Boston for a few days learning about American higher education, innovation, and technology. The visit was sponsored by the American Councils for International Education and the US-Russia Foundation. The University Marshal welcomed the delegation at Wadsworth House.
