West Virginia's Secretary of State Mac Warner led a delegation of senior officials from the Office of the Governor and from West Virginia University for a multi-day visit to Harvard. The goal of this visit was to connect with Harvard students who may have an interest in helping to develop solutions to some of West Virginia's most pressing public policy and economic development issues.
This visit was a follow up to a February trek undertaken by a dozen MPP-MBA joint degree candidates from the Kennedy School and Business School. The April visit to Harvard began with a welcome from Margot Gill, Interim University Marshal, and Paul Andrew, Vice President of Public Affairs. The discussions ranged from energy policy with Kennedy School faculty, an overview of the Social Enterprise Initiative at HBS, a roundtable conversation on election security and a visit to the Harvard Innovation Lab. The delegation met with Kennedy School Dean Douglas Elmendorf, and at the Center for Public Leadership the group learned about opportunities to sponsor internships and special projects for current undergraduates and Kennedy School students.
