Harvard's 10th University Marshal, has also served in a variety of other roles during her 30-year career at the University, including chief of staff to the president, associate vice president for government and community affairs, and senior communications consultant to the Allston Initiative. As the University's chief protocol officer, Jackie reports to the President, and manages visits for heads of state and other high-level officials to Harvard. She also oversees the Commencement Office, and is responsible for the planning and execution of other large-scale, University-wide celebrations, including the past three presidential inaugurations, and special convocations for Nelson Mandela and the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy. Ms. O'Neill received a B.A. from Boston College, and an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School. She has served on the Commonwealth’s Board of Regents for public higher education; as a trustee of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Shady Hill School, and Beaver Country Day School; as chair of the fiduciary board of the American Repertory Theatre; and as chair of the McBride House, which serves individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS. She is a member of the Massachusetts Women's Forum and the Women's Health Leadership Council at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, and was recently appointed to serve as a member of the Judicial Conduct Commission for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Tara Benedict facilitates the programs for visitors to Harvard University of all levels, from academic delegations from foreign universities to high-profile individuals brought to campus by Harvard departments and student organizations. She also oversees various administrative functions of the Marshal's Office. Tara first joined the Marshal's Office staff in the fall of 2006. Following a brief tenure in the Office of the Executive Vice President, Tara returned to the Marshal's Office as Senior Program Director in May of 2010. She began her career in higher education administration in 2002 at Boston University, first with the Office of Human Resources, then with the School of Management, before crossing the river in 2005 to take a position at the Harvard Kennedy School. Tara has a Master's of Higher Education Administration from Boston University, and a B.A. in History from Cornell University. She is a member of Harvard's Board of Freshman Advisers and the Arts First Committee, and serves as a Cornell Alumni Ambassador in the Belmont-Lexington-Arlington area.
Keneisha Murphy manages the gift inventory and delegates program for the Marshal’s Office. She also performs various administrative functions supporting the University Marshal, Jackie O’Neill and Senior Program Director, Tara Benedict. Keneisha first came to Harvard University in February 2006 as Staff Coordinator supporting University Housing, where she provided services for faculty, staff and graduate students. She has also supported various departments under the Campus Services module. During her career at Harvard, she has completed Harvard’s own Leadership Development Program and a number of management development and business operating systems courses. Keneisha has orchestrated many training sessions, social gatherings and travel itineraries. She currently holds an AA in Computer Information Systems and is pursuing an ALB in psychology at the Harvard Extension School. She is an active mentor in her community through Big Sister Association and serves as a trustee member at her local church.
